Job description

Accountabilities and Specific Requirements:
The Data Systems Engineer serves as the technical subject matter expert for Operational Technology (OT) data systems supporting pipeline operations and mission-critical systems. This position is responsible for the reliability, security, integration, and lifecycle management of operational data platforms and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support the AVEVA PI System, including data archives, interfaces, integrations, and system performance.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments and production databases supporting operational systems.
  • Support and maintain Windows and Linux server infrastructure hosting mission-critical systems
  • Support Splunk administration, including data onboarding, alerting, reporting, and dashboard development.
  • Develop and maintain API integrations and automation solutions using Python and PowerShell.
  • Monitor system health, performance, availability, and data integrity across OT environments.
  • Support OT cybersecurity requirements through logging, monitoring, threat detection, and coordination with Cyber Security teams.
  • Lead or support system upgrades, patching, migrations, and technology lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing recommendations to improve system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Cyber Security, and OT personnel to support critical business and operational objectives.
  • Share technical knowledge and mentor less experienced engineers and support personnel.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet or exceed these minimum job requirements to apply for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience supporting OT, industrial control systems, data historians, operational databases, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: AVEVA PI System, Microsoft SQL Server, Splunk, Windows and Linux server administration, Python or PowerShell scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in pipeline, energy, oil and gas, or critical infrastructure operations.
  • Experience supporting the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) or comparable industrial facilities.
  • Experience with OT cybersecurity and industrial data integration technologies.

Work Location: Anchorage
Schedule: This is a regular exempt Anchorage based position on an urban schedule of a 40-hour week or 9/80-work schedule.
Band: K-M
