Linux Application Administrator Lead

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Linux Application Administrator Lead to provide technical leadership for RHEL-based enterprise application environments on a federal government IT program. You will lead administration of Linux-hosted applications and services, mentor team members, ensure STIG compliance, and serve as the primary technical escalation point for Linux environment issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical operations for enterprise Linux application administration in a federal IT environment
  • Mentor and guide junior Linux administrators
  • Oversee deployment, patching, monitoring, and incident response for RHEL-hosted applications
  • Administer Apache, Tomcat, LDAP, Oracle Unified Directory, and Red Hat SSO
  • Maintain STIG configurations and drive cybersecurity compliance across Linux systems
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation
  • Lead disaster recovery testing and technology refresh planning for Linux environments
  • Serve as primary technical escalation point for Linux environment issues

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Active Secret or TS/SCI and/or ability to obtain; Bachelor's degree OR RHCE certification
  • Minimum 7 years of Linux/RHEL application administration with 2+ years in a lead role
  • Hands-on expertise with Apache, Tomcat, LDAP, and enterprise directory services
  • Experience with security hardening, STIG compliance, and patch management on Linux

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RHCSA or RHCE certification
  • Experience with Splunk or similar log management/SIEM platforms
  • Cloud infrastructure experience (OCI, AWS, or Azure)
  • Background in federal IT with DoD security compliance requirements
  • Certifications RHCE preferred or required in lieu of degree
  • Security+ or DoD 8570 baseline a plus
  • Active or obtainable DoD Secret clearance; T5 may be required
