Job Title:- Unix Systems Engineer
Duration:- 8+ months
Location:- Hybrid (2-3 days per week in Jacksonville, FL)
*Candidates must be required to participate in an "on-call rotation" potentially working nights/weekends (Typical rotation is every 3 months)*
**IMPORTANT: Must be hybrid onsite (2-3 days per week in Jacksonville). Candidates must be local to the greater Jacksonville area or open to travel at their own expense

Description:
IT Systems Engineers are responsible for monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of technology solutions. IT Systems Engineers provide technical support, troubleshoot problems and perform scripting/programming to ensure stable and efficient operation of technology solutions.
Essential functions:
โ€ข Performs installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned technology
โ€ข Manages system/application environment and ongoing operations
โ€ข Ensures that the technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards
โ€ข Researches, designs, implements, and tests technology solutions
โ€ข Proactively monitors and reports performance and utilization of assigned technologies
โ€ข Troubleshoots software and/or hardware issues/failures
โ€ข Resolves alerts and performs remediation activities
โ€ข Manages problem or escalated tickets and tasks and out-of-cycle requests from systems/software owners
โ€ข Collects and presents data for reporting and planning
โ€ข Assists with developing tactical strategies, processes, and procedures related to systems/application administration
โ€ข Determines migration and upgrade impacts and diagnose/resolves complex technology/application errors
โ€ข Collaborates with IT and business area partners on work groups and initiatives
โ€ข Determines the best course of action for meeting business needs
โ€ข May provide input into infrastructure architecture designs
โ€ข Writes programming/scripting
โ€ข May participate in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises
โ€ข Ensures execution and alignment to architectural standards and blueprints.
โ€ข May contribute input to infrastructure architecture
โ€ข Performs on-call activities as needed for the environment and technologies
Requirements:
โ€ข Extensive working knowledge of multiple technologies and their interfaces and integration
โ€ข Competent working in one or more environments highly integrated with an operating system.
โ€ข Extensive experience implementing and administering/managing technical solutions in major, large-scale system implementations
โ€ข High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.
โ€ข Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities
โ€ข Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance
โ€ข Ability to communicate technical information clearly and articulately
โ€ข Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
โ€ข Experience analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical solutions
โ€ข Experience using Agile methodology
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-Related Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or relevant work experience
-3-5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience demonstrating proficiency and experience in design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting technology
-3-5 years of experience administering Unix/Linux
-Working knowledge of Ansible
-Experience with troubleshooting/configuration of large Linux platforms at the enterprise level
-Experience using AIX would be a major plus
