Role: MySQL/Linux DBA
Work Location: Sunnyvale, California
Duration: 12+ months
Interview Process: Phone + Onsite/SKYPE
Skills & Experience & Summary: Looking for a DBA who will be working on a team that manages the operational and development pieces for the environment for database and production work for www.apple.com. This is for ongoing/operations production support of Apple applications. There are ebbs/flows in amount of work, at times it is very hectic with very little structure. Candidates will need to be flexible and willing to jump into whatever is needed and adjust to new project goals/deliverables on the fly. They will need to balance multiple projects, assignments, and launches simultaneously within a fast- paced, ever-changing work environment.
Need to have experience with:
• Production DBA - 5+ years
o Tune databases running in production.
• Linux
• MySQL (MySQL is running on Linux boxes in a production environment, candidates need to know Linux command lines to get job done).
• MongoDB (used in a multi-datacenter environment)
• Cassandra
• Experience interfacing/working with database developers would be helpful - development skills are not needed, but would be a plus.
• Strong communication/collaboration skills. This is NOT heads down role and it requires candidates to be engaged with their 5-10 person team, the Release Operations team, and other project stakeholders.
