Linux Systems Administrator
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Job Type: Long-Term Contract
Work Setting: Onsite
Position Overview
We are hiring a Linux Systems Administrator for a long-term contract opportunity supporting a large-scale airport technology environment. This role is responsible for administering and maintaining Linux servers and associated infrastructure across enterprise and operational technology environments. The ideal candidate will support system configuration, patching, security hardening, monitoring, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management activities to ensure the stability, security, and reliability of mission-critical Linux platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Administer Linux servers including SUSE, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar distributions.
  • Perform system configuration, updates, patch management, security hardening, and performance tuning.
  • Support Linux-based operational technology and infrastructure platforms.
  • Monitor server health, logs, storage utilization, system performance, and operational metrics.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, application failures, kernel-related problems, and service disruptions.
  • Manage Linux services, applications, daemons, scheduled jobs, and system resources.
  • Support integration and connectivity between Linux systems and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration standards, operational procedures, and environment inventories.
  • Assist with server deployments, migrations, upgrades, and lifecycle refresh initiatives.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for Linux-related incidents, outages, and escalated technical issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • 3-7 years of experience administering Linux systems in enterprise or operational technology environments.
  • Strong proficiency with Linux administration, command-line tools, shell scripting, system services, and log analysis.
  • Experience supporting SUSE, CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, or similar Linux distributions.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, file system management, permissions, SELinux, and systemd.
  • Experience with monitoring, automation, and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot performance issues, operating system errors, and hardware or software-related problems.
  • Experience supporting operational technology (OT), SCADA, or industrial control environments is preferred.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, or equivalent are preferred.
