Our independent contract interpreters are a very important part of our company.
A Brief Overview
Providing on-site interpretation services and on demand sight translation services for Linguava's clients, patients, and family members.
Essential Functions
  • Interpret for individuals and/or families who don't speak English at different predetermined locations for in-person medical appointments. Interpretation will include interactions during hospital admissions, hospital discharges, clinical visits including specialty clinics, outpatient surgeries(pre-op and post-op) outpatient diagnostics, schools, and sometimes emergency room visits.
  • Follow all Linguava and client protocols described in the Linguava employee handbook and the national standards of practice. This includes but is not limited to: educating patients, families, and providers on your role as the interpreter. Checking yourself in and out of appointments on time and staying for the full scheduled duration.
  • Manage an organized schedule and ensure no appointments are missed or double booked

Requirements
Candidates must possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Certified or Qualified Healthcare Interpreter through the State Of Oregon (OHA)
    • If not currently qualified we can assist with this process for eligible candidates who fulfill all other requirements.
  • Demonstrate native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English
  • Pass Linguava's Language Evaluation and skills test
  • Reliable transportation (daily travel required)
  • Excellent listening, communication, organizational and customer service skills

Education:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Experience:
  • Medical field experience preferred but not required
  • Use of bilingual skills in a professional or medical setting preferred but not required

Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Must be organized and punctual
