Our Safety & Quality Training Instructor acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for technical skills based training and the evaluation of student's knowledge retention and application to their job role. You will work collaboratively to administer and continuously improve our internal apprenticeship program. You will also work closely with other safety team members and internal stakeholders to coordinate and deliver a holistic training program for our employees. 

What You'll Do
  • Conduct field observations, evaluations, and interviews to assess both new hire initial skills and transfer of knowledge from classroom to field application for the apprenticeship program
  • Conduct supplemental electrical transmission and distribution construction technical skills training and evaluation of knowledge retention and application
  • Schedule training and evaluations that keep employees compliant with requirements and apprenticeship advancement schedules
  • Collaborate with operations and administrators to organize training and evaluation schedules that maximize the efficiency of training and travel time
  • May be asked to conduct other relevant safety and regulatory training
  • Collaborate with safety manager on area training plan creation, execution, and verification 
  • In coordination with administrators, maintain training records and documentation in the required format and system
  • Design new training modules and provide opportunities to improve existing training modules as needed/ upon request
  • Develop materials and skills training upon request to address specific requests or requirements
  • Assist as Subject Matter Experts in event investigations as well as policy and procedure development as needed
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership
What You'll Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, degree or professional accreditation preferred
  • Minimum 10 years electric transmission and/or distribution construction, inclusing with prior training experience required
  •  OSHA Authorized Trainer, FA/CPR/AED, and/or other safety training certifications preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours 
  • Ability to travel for overnight stays and experience arranging own travel
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, smart phone and tablet applications
  • Must have excellent computer and organizational skills
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate and promote ethical behavior through the establishment and adherence to policies, procedures and professional standards of conduct
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to express oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others; the ability to convey concepts and information in business writing; and the ability to plan and deliver communications / presentations that impact and / or persuade the intended audience
  • Ability to build and foster collaborative relationships by developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with others
  • Ability to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action to be prepared for possible contingencies
  • Ability to professionally demonstrate concern for satisfying one's external and/or internal customers
  • Drives for results and holds others accountable to ensure success

Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a 50% office and 50% field work at warehouse and construction sites
  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
  • Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Travel may be required
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
