As one of the nation's leading electric transmission line construction companies, MasTec Power Delivery companies engineer and construct efficient and reliable electrical transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard systems. Our extensive workforce includes both union and nonunion teams, which, combined with our specialized equipment fleet, allows us to effectively meet our clients' needs for power delivery, emergency restoration, and ongoing maintenance. We've been involved in some of the most challenging and recognizable electric projects across the U.S. From the electric plant to the end users, MasTec's experienced managers and crews consistently deliver transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard services with an unfailing commitment to safety, integrity, and sustainable practices.

Hourly rate: $43-50 + Per Diem

We are looking for an experienced field mechanic for a project located in Hobbs, NM. They will perform vehicle and equipment servicing duties, routine maintenance activities, general vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs under supervision. As well as transport vehicles and support overall garage efforts as necessary.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with users, shop personnel and outside vendors/customers to accurately diagnose and effect repair of vehicles/equipment.
• Adjust work schedules and assignments on notice to meet changing priorities.
• Accept personal responsibility for resolving specific maintenance and repair-related problems and meet maintenance and repair schedules.
• Search for ways to improve maintenance and repair operations and reduce in-shop repair times.
• Assure fleet vehicles/equipment are in safe condition when returned to service by working closely with users, shop personnel and vendors to affect proper and timely correction of vehicle/equipment discrepancies.

Skills & Abilities:
• Electrical troubleshooting
• Hydraulic troubleshooting
• Proficient in welding
• Diesel and gas engine diagnostics and repairs
• Engine, transmission, differential rebuilding
• Foundation Drill Rig and Crane experience
• Must read rough drawings and take verbal instructions


Qualifications

Education and/ or Work Experience:
• Diesel and gas engines of all types, or other automotive electrical training or certification
• Welding experience or certification
• 3-5 years’ experience in heavy equipment and trucks
• Must have a complement of mechanics hand tools.
• Transmission Line experience

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift material in excess of 50 pounds, be generally physically fit, and be able to perform all duties with reasonable ease. Pre-employment drug screen test is mandatory.
