Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Chief Pilot, Manager, Training and the auspicies of the FAA, ensure pilots are qualified under the applicable regulations and company policies by administering line checks, and proficiency checks as directed. Instruct company pilots and medical crews as directed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluate the performance and knowledge of rotor wing pilots in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies through pilot proficiency checks as directed.

  • Provide flight and ground instruction.

  • Assist the Chief Pilot in reviewing and updating the pilot training curriculum.

  • Assist in creating necessary flight documents as required of the training department.

  • Maintain compliance with the Department of Health and OSHA rules as they apply to Air Medical Department.

  • Responsible for supporting company Safety Management System activities.

  • Comply with company HS&E policies and procedures.

  • Promote PHI's Destination Zero initiative at the line level.

  • Maintain currency.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Must hold First Class Medical.

  • Must have two years prior experience as FAA designed Check Airman.

  • Must meet CAMTS qualifications for PIC rotor wing:

    2,000 Total Hours // 1,500 Hours Helicopter // 1,000 Hours PIC Helicopters // 500 Hours Turbine Helicopters // 100 Hours in Unaided Night Operations or 50 Hours Unaided and 100 Hours Night Vision Goggles (NVG) // 75 Hours Instrument (Actual & Hood)

  • Preference for Airline Transport Pilot license.

  • Preference for experience in both EC135 & BH407.

  • Must be able to pass pre-placement physical exam including functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, lift 100 pounds) drug screening and background screen.

  • Must meet and maintain the company's flight personnel weight restriction policy, which limits individual weight to 235 lbs or less.

  • Ability to communicate verbally, effectively, and clearly in person and by radio.
