Job description

Description

Quality Engineer, Compliance
Lin Engineering | Morgan Hill, CA | Full-Time | On-Site

Why This Role

Lin Engineering has spent 30+ years building precision motion control products - stepper motors, BLDC motors, linear actuators - for aerospace, robotics, life sciences, and autonomous vehicles. Quality isn't a support function here. It's built into how we operate.

We're hiring a Quality Engineer, Compliance who takes ownership: of audits, of CAPA from root cause to closure, and of the environmental and regulatory programs that keep our products compliant and our customers confident.

What You'll Own

  • Lead internal audits and drive corrective actions through to verified closure
  • Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints - root cause through resolution
  • Manage environmental and regulatory compliance programs: REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, PFAS, POPs
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers on declarations of compliance
  • Partner with engineering, production, and supply chain to maintain process and product standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain quality documentation
  • Train team members on standards, inspection techniques, and quality tools

Most of your time is spent in the office, with regular presence on the manufacturing floor (PPE required). Occasional flexibility for audits or production schedules; minimal travel possible for supplier audits or off-site training.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field - or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 2+ years in quality assurance, supplier quality, or manufacturing quality in a regulated industry
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent QMS - audit ownership required, not just exposure
  • Direct experience managing environmental compliance programs (REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, PFAS, POPs) including supplier declarations of compliance - this is a hard requirement
  • Proven CAPA ownership using 5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone/Ishikawa, or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with FMEA, SPC, and PPAP
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, quality management software, and analytical tools (Minitab, JMP, or Excel)
  • Strong cross-functional communicator - able to hold the line on quality with internal teams and external stakeholders

Preferred:

  • CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, or equivalent certification
  • AS9100 experience in aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated manufacturing
  • Experience adapting quality strategies across low-to-mid and high-volume production environments

Compensation & Benefits

  • $71,845 - $94,843 annually, commensurate with experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision - effective the first of the month after hire
  • 401(k) with company match
  • PTO + 10 paid holidays
  • Stable, tenured team with a genuine culture of quality

This position is on-site in Morgan Hill, CA. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.
