Job description

Key Responsibilities
Plant Reliability & Operational Performance
  • Analyze crushing plant and mobile equipment performance trends to optimize throughput and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Ensure emergency repairs to crushers, screens, conveyors, loaders, haul trucks, and wash plants are completed safely and in a timely manner.
  • Review root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures (bearings, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, structural components) and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Support production targets by aligning maintenance priorities with daily and seasonal demand.
  • Assist in developing the maintenance budget and ultimately manage to said budget.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
  • Develop and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for:

    • Jaw, cone, and impact crushers
    • Vibrating screens and feeders
    • Conveyor systems and stackers
    • Wash plants and pumps
    • Mobile heavy equipment (loaders, excavators, haul trucks)

  • Maintain and optimize CMMS/asset management systems (SAP, Oracle, Limble, or equivalent).
  • Track equipment lifecycle data to support rebuild and replacement strategies.

Spare Parts & Inventory Management
  • Identify and sustain critical spare parts inventory for high-wear and long-lead items.
  • Manage cycle counts and internal audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to minimize downtime caused by parts shortages.
  • Monitor wear parts consumption (liners, belts, idlers, screens, bearings, hydraulic components) and adjust stocking levels accordingly.

Budget & Capital Planning
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance operating budget.
  • Monitor maintenance spend including labor, parts, contractor services, and rebuilds.
  • Assist in capital planning for plant expansions, crusher upgrades, major rebuilds, and fleet replacements.
  • Provide cost analysis and ROI justification for capital improvement projects.

Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Source and manage outside contractors for major rebuilds, electrical work, structural repairs, and specialized services.
  • Negotiate service agreements and parts contracts to ensure cost efficiency and quality workmanship.
  • Coordinate OEM support for major equipment (crushers, screens, heavy mobile equipment).

Leadership & Safety
  • Lead, train, and develop maintenance supervisors, technicians, welders, and electricians.
  • Plan daily and weekly maintenance activities aligned with production schedules.
  • Promote a strong safety culture in compliance with MSHA regulations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred).
  • 5-10 years of maintenance leadership experience in aggregate mining, quarry, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of crushing and screening systems.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms (SAP, Oracle, Limble, etc.).
  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining safety standards.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting expertise.
