Job description

Maintenance Technician

Location: Garden City, GA, 31408

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Technician to join our automated ammunition manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of specialized ammunition production equipment while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance on complex loading equipment, priming machines, motorized tables, and high-tonnage hydraulic presses.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain automated valves, sensors, switches, and associated production line automation.
  • Adhere strictly to all corporate safety protocols, explosive safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Execute work in accordance with ISO 9001 standards, established SOPs, and Work Instructions.
  • Document all scheduled PMs, unscheduled repairs, and parts usage using Limble CMMS.
  • Assist with installation, setup, and continuous improvement of production equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergency maintenance requests.
  • Support a two-shift manufacturing operation as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned based on business needs and conditions.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • 3+ years of mechanical or industrial maintenance experience, preferably in ammunition, firearms, chemical, automotive, or related manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic presses, motorized tables, pneumatic systems, and automated production equipment.
  • Practical experience with industrial sensors, automated valves, and manufacturing control systems.
  • Familiarity with handling energetic materials, propellants, primers, brass cases, or projectiles is preferred.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality environment and following detailed work instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, CMMS software, equipment monitoring systems, and electronic maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be flexible and available to support a two-shift operational schedule. Applicants with attendance issues will not be considered.
  • Familiarity with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), servo motors, and motor controls.
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools including digital multimeters, clamp meters, and sensor testing equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Standard warehouse environment, with normal air contaminants, such as dust, typically found in a warehouse setting.
  • Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal warehouse equipment (machinery, forklifts, etc.).
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking distances inside the plant.
  • May require standing, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended hours.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 60lbs and 30lbs above shoulder level.
  • Ability to wear proper safety equipment, including gloves, etc.
  • Ability to hear soft and loud noises and respond accordingly.
  • Ability to bend, twist, turn, reach, and perform physical maintenance activities in confined spaces and other restricted work environments.
  • Ability to see objects closely and from a distance.
  • Ability to be aware of changing work environment and operate equipment in a safe manner.
