Job description

RK&K is currently hiring a Bridge Inspector to join our Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) team in Raleigh, NC. This position is in our Construction Management group which oversees the contractor's operations on roadway and bridge construction projects.
Essential Functions
  • Assisting the CEI Project Manager with daily bridge/roadway inspection
  • Ensuring contractor compliance alongside quality control
  • Performing NCDOT and municipal inspections and testing as required
  • These tests and inspections include, but are not limited to: earthwork, asphalt, concrete, bridge and miscellaneous structures, toll facilities, lighting, signalization, environmental compliance, maintenance of traffic, utilities, etc.
  • This position receives general supervision and instruction from the CEI Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager

Required Skills and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Two (2) years' lead experience in NCDOT bridge construction inspection
  • NCDOT Concrete Field Testing
  • NCDOT QMS Roadway

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution

Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
