Whatโ€™s unique about this role?

Digital Forensics Consultants are responsible for providing forensic analysis services and conducting onsite and remote collections of electronically stored information (ESI) from computers, mobile devices, networks, collaboration apps, cloud repositories, and various other media and data sources. Using state-of-the-art technology, they process and analyze data in support of forensic investigations and litigation and prepare compelling, detailed reports of their findings. Forensic Consultants may occasionally provide court testimony related to forensic analysis and data collection projects. It should be noted that this role is required to be onsite at the San Francisco Lab3-5 days per week.

What will this person do?
  • Perform forensically sound onsite and remote collections of ESI from a wide variety of data sources, including but not limited to computers, mobile devices, hard drives, servers, external data storage devices, cloud data sources, and other digital media.
  • Perform forensic analysis of data in support of investigations and/or litigation.
  • Prepare detailed written forensic analysis reports, declarations, and related correspondence.
  • Provide written and/or oral testimony in court proceedings as necessary.
  • Assistclients and various Lighthouse business units in scoping new forensic projects to identify project requirements, recommend workflows, and develop timing and cost estimates.
  • Provideongoing andtimelyproject status updates.
  • Accurately track and log assigned data collections.
  • Conduct custodian interviews to identify relevant data sources.
  • Enter time and expenses into the appropriate billing system by prescribed deadlines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • A person performing successfullyin this role typically hasfouror more years of experience in Digital Forensics consulting and client service.
  • Ability to describe complex technical concepts / ideas in non-technical terms, to less technical audiences
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance many priorities and to work under pressure while remaining calm.
  • Ability to be a team player and to collaborate with the various teams across the Company.
  • At least one security or digital forensics industrycertifications, such as CISSP,EnCE, CCE, CFCE, MCFE, or similar
  • Experience in the forensiccollection andanalysis of Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android devices.
  • Experience in the forensic collection and analysis of cloud and enterprise data repositories (Microsoft Purview, Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Training, experience, and/orcertifications with forensic tools such as Axiom, EnCase, Forensic Toolkit, Cellebrite (Inseyetes, UFED, Physical Analyzer, Digital Inspector, Digital Collector),Verakey/Graykey, or open-source forensic tools.
  • Masteryofdata collection, preservation, and chain of custody principles and procedures.
  • Experience ininterfacing withclients and client partners to plan data collection and forensic analysis projects involving a wide variety of physical devices, network storage, cloud storage, and email platforms.
  • Understanding ofproject economics with the ability to work closely with forensic team leaders to provide project time and expense estimates and set appropriate project expectations.
  • Experience providingwritten reports and/or declarationsfor use inlegal proceedings.
  • Experience providing court testimony is a plus.
  • Programming, scripting, and/or database design experience is a plus.
  • Linux/UNIX experience is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require being on-call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Duties will require occasional travel via automobile, airline, or other common passenger transport.
  • Travel requirements are dependent upon project needs. Travel is typically 10-30%.
  • Duties may occasionally be performed at a clientโ€™s facility.
  • Duties may require the ability tolift upto 50 lbs.
