Description
A modern chairlift can have as many people in the air as a Boeing 767, move at speeds of up to 1000 feet per minute, at elevations of up to 45 feet off the ground, all in freezing temperatures. A lot is riding on Lift Operators doing their job well and at Bromley we take this responsibility seriously. We also want to make it stress-free and enjoyable for our guests. We are looking for an energetic person to lead our team of attendants.
Summary: Shares responsibility with Lifts Manager for daily operations of lifts during winter season.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Hires, schedules, and supervises lift staff
  • Conducts and documents all training in accordance with company and ANSI B77.1-2017 standards
  • Schedules lift attendants according to weekly lift schedule
  • Understands the function of lifts and their safety devices and operates control switches
  • Oversees operation of lifts, maintenance of ramps, and conditions of loading and unloading areas
  • Removes excess snow from lifts, ramps, decks, nets, and areas adjacent to lifts
  • Keeps shacks and adjacent areas neat and free of garbage
  • Assists passengers and loads lifts
  • Shares responsibility with Resort Hosts for setting up and removing mazes
  • Assists Lift Maintenance staff as needed
  • Assists in picking up and dropping off international staff 1-2 days per week and/or as needed
  • Performs some administrative duties related to the international program
  • Correspond with work/travel agencies as needed
  • Perform interviews with J-1 applicants
  • Communicate with participants to prepare them for arrival and upon departure
  • Responsible for arrival processing and pre-arrival orientation for new international staff
  • Coordinate ground transportation and/or perform pick-ups upon arrival and departure
  • Coordinate and/or assist in weekly transportation for international staff
  • Respond to emergencies as needed
  • Conduct exit interviews/performance reviews and collect information to improve program
  • Coordinate with Human Resources Director throughout process
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Must have experience working lifts and understand their function
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Must be able to work outside in inclement cold weather
  • Must be able to work standing up for extended periods of time
  • Able to push, pull and lift substantial amount of weight on a frequent basis
  • Safety conscious and oriented
  • Must be personable and willing to work with others; team oriented
  • Must be willing to project image established by Bromley
  • Able and willing to work with staff from other countries whose English is a second language

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises a team of ~30 lift attendants during the winter season. (~20 college students from South America on a cultural exchange program). Hiring, training, scheduling, and leading this team is a critical part of the responsibilities of this position.
Work Environment:
This job operates primarily outdoors during the winter season. This includes all forms of winter weather found in Vermont. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, mail machines, and fax machines as well as landscaping equipment like shovels and rakes.
Physical Demands:
This is a physically active role requiring several hours of standing and working outdoors; includes shoveling snow, cleaning lift chairs, and building ramps. Occasionally indoors using computers and phones as well. Must be able to lift and carry 20 lbs over uneven terrain.
