Part Time Library Technician - St. Peter's Hospital

Shift / Schedule: 8 hour day shift, 3 days per week

St. Peter's is looking for a Library Technician to join our team!

The Library Technician performs the general library functions of circulation and Interlibrary Loan (ILL), assists patrons with general and ready reference inquiries, and online searching. This position supports the overall library needs of the College/School of Nursing, the Acute Care Division and St. Peter's Health Partners system.

Responsibilities:

  • Checking materials in/out, managing holds, handling, and registering new students.
  • Facilitates resource sharing among health science libraries to provide quick access to medical, nursing, and biomedical literature when requested.
  • Processes inter-library loan requests
  • Shelving/sorting books and materials, repairing damaged items, and maintaining inventory
  • Performs cataloging, labeling, and the processing of new books, periodicals, and media
  • Assists users with computers, printers, scanners, and minor troubleshooting of. hardware.
  • Maintains computer area within the library and within the laptop storage area.
  • Has proficiency with Integrated Library Systems (ILS), database management, email, electronic card catalog, and Microsoft. Office - Especially Word and PowerPoint
  • Maintains the digital messaging board and keep it current; with relevant information.
  • Assists students with obtaining IT support when needed for software issues
  • Assists librarian with setting up library events, such as new student orientation and creating digital content for information and instructional purposes
  • Maintains testing calendar each semester and acts as a proctor for accommodated and/or other test takers

Requirements:

  • High School graduate with one to three years related experience OR Associate Degree in Library and Information Science.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills to assist diverse user groups, excellent organization skills with attention to detail
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in written text taking into consideration specific situations and audiences

Pay Range: $17.25 - $22.54


Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
