Job description

Overview
Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant in the Libraries' IT Department. This role supports faculty, staff, and students by assisting with routine technology needs and contributing to the daily operations of the Libraries' IT unit. Student assistants are expected to possess basic technical and customer service skills to support the department efficiently and effectively. Student workers are eligible to work up to 20 hours per week depending on the operational needs.
Responsibilities
  • Assist Auburn University Libraries faculty and staff with basic computing questions and provide support for hardware and software troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance
  • Support IT staff with technology setup and maintenance, including installing software updates, imaging laptops and computers, and replacing or swapping out computer equipment
  • Direct users to appropriate resources or personnel when issues cannot be resolved at the initial level
  • Assist with setting up, transporting, and organizing technology equipment for library operations and events
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the IT workspace
