Job description

Library Service Center - Student Library Assistant (Summer)
Job no: 492930
Work type: Student
Location: Norman

Pay Range: Targeted salary: $10.00 hourly, based on experience
Benefits Eligible: No
Work Schedule: Supervisor will work with employee to create schedule that fits around their class schedule.
Travel: Not required
Position Introduction:
Performs routine duties in the Library Service Center and other off-site storage facilities, including shelving, shifting, locating library materials, shelf reading, sorting materials by size, lifting boxes and trays, and data entry. Performs other duties as assigned.
Employees in this position will report to work at an off-campus location - the Library Service Center at 2601 Technology Place and occasionally on campus. Transportation will not be provided. Must have a valid Driver's License.

Advertised Physical Requirements:
  • Regular bending, stooping, and stretching; ability to lift 50 lbs.; ability to push heavy carts; ability to use manual and electronic lifts.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Must be currently enrolled in the Summer term as a student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
    • Must attach Summer 2026 class schedule as applicable (*calendar view is preferred*)
  • Basic data entry skills and some computer experience.

Required Certifications and Licenses:
  • Valid driver's license.

Department Preferences:
  • Afternoons, especially Tuesdays and Thursdays, are highly preferred.
