Employee Benefits Quality Engineering is undergoing a huge transformation, and we are looking to change the way we do testing. The Employee Benefits Quality Engineering team is architecting and designing the quality ecosystem for the AI, Data, Analytics and Service Platforms. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role to establish frameworks for automated testing, Service virtualization, Enterprise data and data quality assurance in addition to helping the organization move towards Continuous testing practices. The individual will work with multiple vendors, IT leaders, and business teams to align automation priorities with IT strategies. Champion the usage and adoption of automated testing and related tools (in-house and new external tools) across the organization. Help defining quality engineering standards, best practices, provide technical recommendations to continuously improve testing efficiencies, mentor the scrum QA teams to adopt defined practices, and report KPIs. Partner with the Scrum Masters, Software Engineers and other QA Leads to increase test coverage and optimize automated test executions time to achieve faster release readiness, support post implementation reviews, driving for root cause to improve test processes and key quality metrics.

Responsibilities:

Accountable for overall test planning and test execution of the assigned Scrum and Platform teams for Digital applications.

Work with multiple vendors, IT leaders, and business teams to align automated testing priorities with IT strategies.

Design, develop, review and maintain test artifacts - test cases, frameworks, code library, common capabilities, etc. adhering to the software engineering best practices and meet expected quality standards.

Develop automated Test Data Management capabilities across the program ecosystem.

Provide solutions to shift-left NFR testing - performance, security and accessibility for external facing digital applications.

Identify industry accepted tools and technology for implementation that align with business goals, application landscape and cloud first approach.

Contribute to the quality engineering activities throughout every phase of the SDLC requirements, design, development, and testing.

Lead initiatives for Performance testing and Security testing to build quality into the product.

Provide technical leadership to Scrum QA engineers to adopt shift left approach in testing.

Lead and implement End to End Quality Gating integrated with the Continuous deployment and Continuous testing process.

Ability to understand release needs and determine test data and environment needs.

Experience in using Analytics to identify patterns/create predictive models for day-to-day use cases.

Be passionate about new technologies and help bring in outside- in view to teams on the ground to drive transformation leveraging Gen AI capabilities.

Plan bug bashes and provide support to business partners during UAT planning, execution.

Collaborate with other stake holders like Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Software Engineers and other QA engineers to improve the testing infrastructure and mature the Continuous Testing practices.

Evaluate efficiency of existing QA practice and recommend for improvements.

Display critical thinking skills by identifying and resolving risks and issues in proactive manner.

Qualifications:

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

5 + years of experience in Quality Engineering

3+ years of experience in leading Quality engineering teams

Experience with programing language - Java, JavaScript /Typescript, Python

Experience with Test automation tools -Playwright, Karate, BDD, Selenium, Blazemeter/JMeter, Test Data Management tool

Experience with DevOps and RE tools chain like Sonar, Nexus, Jenkins, Git, Splunk, Dynatrace

Experience with cross browser testing - Browser stack, Selenium Grid, OpenShift

Experience with Gen AI - GitHub Copilot, and Model Context Protocol (Playwright, GitHub)

Strong experience in risk-based approach for implementing End to End test strategies

Knowledge of Agile Scrum/SAFE methodology

Effectively use collaboration tools like Rally/Jira

Nice to Have:

Experience with AppScan, Checkmarx, CA DevTest

Experience with any of the reporting tools - Extent, Allure, Report portal, Tableau

Insurance & Financial services domain knowledge

Knowledge of AWS cloud technology - Code Build, Code Pipeline, Containers

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$103,200 - $154,800
