Position Summary:
TheRegional Library Manager serves as an innovative leader who ensures a highstandard of public service while stewarding a dynamic, collaborative team. Thisposition is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a library branchof the Charlotte Mecklenburg County Library System (CML).
Thisrole includes supporting and developing a larger staff with departmentmanagers, managing a complex, higher-capacity facility, initiating andmaintaining collaboration with community/neighborhood branch leaders, andpartnering with an expansive, wide-reaching community of leaders to assess andmeet community needs, aligning with CML's mission to improve lives and build astronger community. Thelibrary branch will serve as a public commons, connecting knowledge, culture,and creativity though library programs and specialized services. The branchwill serve as a vibrant, inclusive space, with the goal of strengthening publicengagement, supporting economic opportunity, and connecting communityresources.
Essential Functions:
As a Library Innovator
Leadthe continued development of services and programs, including outreach, whichreflect the evolving needs of a diverse community and align with system-wideprogram plans.
Championinnovation by seeking new, creative and effective initiatives to serve thecommunity.
Utilizedemographic data and community input to ensure programming and services arerelevant, inclusive, and equitable.
Buildstrategic partnerships with educational institutions, workforce developmentagencies, nonprofit and cultural organizations to expand CML's communityimpact.
As a Library Leader
Serveas a liaison between senior leaders and branch staff, regularly reportingrelevant branch successes, trends, and challenges.
Developleadership capacity among a larger staff and foster a culture of excellentperformance, collaboration, inclusivity, accountability, and continuouslearning by intentional staff engagement, performance management, and coaching.
Successfullylead through organizational and operational change by maintaining a positiveculture and providing guidance and support.
Overseeoperations in a complex, higher-capacity facility including safety, security,and maintenance in coordination with County departments and contractors.
Monitorand allocate budgets and other financial resources strategically andresponsibly.
Serveas a primary point of contact for resolving complex customer service concernsand facility issues.
Supervisedepartment Managers, Librarians, Library Associates, and Access Service Staff.
Facilitateregular branch all-staff meetings and individual staff check-ins.
As a Library Collaborator
Workcollectively with peer library managers, staff, and program presenters todeliver exceptional programming and experiences for all ages.
Developand maintain connections with community and neighborhood branches within yourregion (POD), supporting collaboration among staff.
Participatein system-wide strategic initiatives.
Buildand sustain strong partnerships within an expansive, wide-reaching community tofoster community engagement and offer innovative, diverse programming.
Advocatefor CML's mission as a partner in community learning, cultural enrichment,civic engagement, and equitable access to opportunity.
MinimumQualifications:
Experience: Minimum of sevenyears of varied and increasing library and leadership experience.
Education: Master's degree in Library Science from anALA-accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Provensuccessful, high-level supervisory and management skills within a publiclibrary system or related industry
Department Supervisor experience with 5 or more directreports
Advancedknowledge of current and future-focused library practices, evolving services,and contemporary and emerging resources
Implementationof impactful projects and initiatives
Projectmanagement skills
Provencommitment to strong customer and community service
Successfulrecord with developing staff leadership skills and abilities
Experience working with/supporting the needs andinterests of a teen population
