Job Description
Aramark Facilities Management is seeking a General Manager to lead day-to-day operations within a large, complex Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) account supporting Mecklenburg County.
 
This role is responsible for executing maintenance and facilities operations across a diverse portfolio that includes government buildings, parks and recreation facilities, and libraries.
The General Manager translates operational priorities into execution. This leader is accountable for driving performance in the field, leading skilled trades teams, managing vendor partners, and ensuring all services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to standard. This role requires a strong maintenance background, a visible leadership presence, and the ability to deliver consistent results across multiple service lines.
 
This is a critical leadership position within a high-visibility IFM account. The General Manager plays a direct role in delivering operational performance, supporting client satisfaction, and leading teams responsible for maintaining essential public facilities across the Mecklenburg portfolio.
Job Responsibilities
  • Facilities Operations and Execution
    • Lead daily facilities maintenance and operations across multiple sites and asset types
    • Execute preventive maintenance programs, work orders, and project-based work with a focus on reliability and speed
    • Ensure all services are delivered on time, safely, and in alignment with client expectations
    • Maintain strong field presence to support teams, remove barriers, and keep work moving
    Skilled Trades and Team Leadership
    • Lead and develop Maintenance Managers, Operations Managers, and skilled trades teams, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
    • Provide clear direction, set expectations, and hold teams accountable for execution and quality
    • Support technical problem-solving when needed while maintaining focus on leading the operation
    • Align staffing, skillsets, and daily priorities to meet operational demand
    Vendor and Custodial Management
    • Oversee outsourced custodial services, ensuring performance, quality, and accountability
    • Manage third-party vendors and contractors, particularly for large-scale or specialized work (approximately 30% of operations)
    • Balance internal labor and external partners to deliver efficient and cost-effective outcomes
    Client and Operational Alignment
    • Partner closely with the Resident District Manager to support overall account performance
    • Ensure clear communication of priorities, progress, and challenges across all levels of the operation
    • Maintain alignment with client expectations across all facilities and service lines

Qualifications

In order to be prepared for this leadership role, qualified candidates will possess:

  • Strong background in facilities maintenance and skilled trades operations
  • Experience leading multi-site or complex maintenance operations
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
  • Experience managing vendors and outsourced service providers
  • Proven ability to lead teams while maintaining strong operational awareness
  • Clear communicator with the ability to drive alignment and execution
  • Experience in government or public sector facilities preferred

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
