Job description

Media Assistant
Elementary School Sites to Be Determined

Mankato Area Public Schools has a position available for a Media Assistant, elementary site to be determined, for approximately 5.25 hours per day/5 days per week with a 180-day work year beginning August 24, 2026.ย  The position is Classification A13 on the Secretarial Association's Salary schedule.ย 

Summary of Duties:
Under the guidance of the Media Specialist, the Media Assistant is primarily responsible for providing the Media Specialist assistance and support in the operation of the building's Media Center by providing circulation services and guidance to staff and students in the selection and location of media resources and materials; supervising students in the Media Center; providing support and assistance to students in the use of computer applications, web-based programs, and AV equipment in the Media Center; participates in the purchasing, coding, and cataloging of print and non-print media acquisition, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Excellent computer and organizational skills; ability to operate a variety of office and media equipment, desire and ability to learn library media classification systems, knowledge of library media terminology and processes, ability to work effectively with students and district personnel.ย
