Job Summary:
The Ebling Library for the Health Sciences seeks a passionate, dynamic, and creative Communications and Digital Content Specialist to join its team. This position will develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies, manage digital and print outputs, and ensure consistent, accessible, and compelling messaging. The person in this role will work closely with library staff to identify editorial needs, craft high-quality content, and maintain strong brand and style standards while aligning with SMPH and institutional communications guidance. This position oversees and manages:
  • the library's strategy for website content;
  • all written and visual library communication for external parties and stakeholders, including the biannual library newsletter, regularly occurring news and announcements, and possible annual report via a variety of platforms and means;
  • the creation, updating, and maintenance of library branding and style guides for written and visual communications;
  • the library's social media accounts;
  • the creation and maintenance of consistent library signage within and outside the library.

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
  • The work schedule is flexible and will be determined at the time of hire.

  • Determines strategy for website content
  • Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns

  • Reviews, edits, produces, and troubleshoots content for website and online presence
  • Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans
  • Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects
  • Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • Develops blog and social content based on local programming, events, and educational services.

Ebling Library, under the School of Medicine and Public Health, serves the health sciences schools, departments, programs on the UW-Madison campus, including UW Hospital, supporting researchers, scholars, clinicians, students, and staff in the discovery, access, and use of biomedical information through curation, innovative services, and partnerships.
Compensation:
The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 up to $75,000 for highly experienced candidates and actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications and/or marketing;
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, and ability to balance multiple projects at one time;
  • Demonstrated skill in written and oral communication;
