Read on to find out more about this opportunity: The Marin County Free Library (MCFL) is a special taxing district that operates ten branch libraries in Marin under the authority of the Board of Supervisors. It provides public library services to the residents of the unincorporated areas of the County and the cities of Corte Madera, Fairfax and Novato

ABOUT THE POSITION Webstars is a paid youth internship program in Marin County.

Founded in 1999 at the Marin City Library, the program provides hands-on training and work experience. Through Webstars, teen interns build skills they need to pursue careers in technology, libraries, and STEM education. Webstars learn job skills, facilitation, process-based learning, maker tools, and program design.

You can learn more about the Webstars program here. This internship you are applying for will take place at The Shop, located near the South Novato Library in Hamilton. This job will not take place inside the library and is not a library job.

Read more about The Shop here. The Shop is a public space for making, learning, and building community. We are located next to the South Novato Library and we're free for all to visit and use.

We offer a wide range of tools and activities for patrons of all ages, such as woodworking, painting, bicycle maintenance, sewing and more. Interns working here will have the opportunity to support all operations year round. Patrons come in with a wide range of projects such as hoping to fix prized possessions, learn new skills, or restart an old hobby.

Either way interns need to be able to support these learning opportunities while maintaining a safe environment for both the patrons and the tools they use. If you are interested in working with your hands, being with the public, and having a fun job that teaches you many life skills, please apply. ABOUT YOU Our Highly Qualified Candidate: Maintains High School enrollment for the duration of the internship Has reliable transportation to their assigned work location Is responsible, mature and motivated to learn Is interested in working directly with the public Can commit to a minimum of 10 hours every two weeks Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled in a high school academic or vocational curriculum or be within one year of having graduated. Applicants under 18 years of age must secure a work permit from their high school district before being employed
