Job description

Job Title: Print Shop Assistant
Department: Library
Supervisor: Library Print Shop Manager
Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00
Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.
Department Description
HPU Libraries provides patrons with assistance in completing print projects, answering any questions they may have and providing excellent customer service. As a student employee, you will gain experience working in an academic library while enhancing your knowledge of library procedures. You will learn a wide variety of equipment proficient in the industry and will understand how our machinery is maintained and troubleshoot with efficiency.
Job Description
Student is responsible for assisting patrons with printing projects and using graphic design software. They will also work at the service point desk, helping patrons pick up their print orders and processing payments.
Job Location/ Hours Required
The candidate will perform most/all job duties in Smith Library. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to (16) hours per week.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists students with printing projects, using multimedia software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word/Publisher.

  • Assists the Print Shop Manager and Media staff in completing print orders. This could include printing, cutting, binding, organizing, and billing for print orders.

  • Checks printing equipment for functionality; notifies staff of any issues.

  • On occasion, they may be needed to help assist with media equipment check-ins or check-outs alongside cleaning DVDs or Blu-ray devices.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be able to work independently, take initiative, and communicate effectively with library staff, students, and visitors. Applicants must be comfortable using multimedia software, such as Adobe Photoshop. Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills to assist other students with projects.
