Job description

Position Description
Performs highly skilled analytical duties in the design of construction projects. Using computer aided design (CAD) software, creates complex and accurate construction documents. Assists in the planning, scheduling , or coordination of project activities to meet deadlines. Helps ensure project compliance with various State and Federal regulatory agencies. Work is performed under the guidance of the Project Manager. May supervise student intern; assign duties and responsibilities.
Major/Essential Functions
Obtains legible, accurate, and pertinent field notes relating to projects. Operates computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to produce accurate and organized designs and construction documents in a timely manner.
Interprets blueprints and other design/construction documents. Provides support and technical expertise to shops, students, and outside contractors. Acts as a records clerk with plans, submittals, and specifications ensuring documents are accounted for. Is able to locate and retrieve plans, submittal data, and specifications as required.
Assists in the development and implementation of BIM workflow, standards, and usage of BIM and Revit within and outside of TTU Operations. Supports project teams by (1) managing and creating content library files and templates, (2) evaluating and enforcing standards, (3) creating and evaluating project models and construction documents, and (4) assists students and other employees to increase their BIM and Revit skill-sets.
Creates illustrations using computer-based software, namely PhotoShop, while conferring with supervisors and making necessary changes in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications
Represent Project Manager on construction site, ensuring builder compliance with design specifications and advising on design corrections, under Project Manager's supervision. Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on engineering and architectural designs.
Required Qualifications
Associates degree or higher and three years of work experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis.

Thorough knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of design and construction. Capable of reading blueprints and maps. Capable of working with GPS and GIS equipment and software. Capable of working with photo manipulation software.
