Advertised Job Summary
  • General desk information services: Answer general questions via phone, chat, or face-to-face and provide printing assistance. Assist patrons with circulation of library materials. Refer requests to other departments or designated staff, as appropriate. Log requests in specific databases for tracking of future needs.

  • Supervisor on duty for mid shift until the arrival of the night manager and/or acting as evening manager on weekends. Ensure desk coverage for daily OAIS operations as appropriate based on needs and staffing available. Handles complex customer service issues.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a library setting.
  • Prior customer service experience.
  • Supervisory experience of other staff or processes within a department.
  • Knowledge of outreach methods.
  • Experience in implementing and enforcing library policies and procedures.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Working knowledge of library circulation and access services.
  • Knowledge of modern academic library technology and equipment, including usage, accessibility, and instruction of those materials.

Monitor the building's entrance and exit points to ensure all visitors use the proper ID to enter the library. In the event of hazardous weather conditions and security events, ensure proper safety guidelines are followed.

Create tickets for repairs or removal of hazards, as necessary. Respond to noise, security, or safety issues within the library. Coordinate with university emergency services when needed.
