Job description

Overview
The Opportunity
Walbridge is seeking a Director, Procurement & Prefabrication Modular Offsite Fabrication (PPMOF) to lead complex procurement, vendor management, and offsite fabrication activities for major project teams. You will support setting the Corporate Vision and Initiatives as it relates to PPMOF. Promote use of PPMOF across the enterprise. Investigate opportunities to increase use on PPMOF in construction.
In this role, you/ your team will manage Contractor Furnished Contractor Installed (CFCI) equipment, prefabricated modular builds, and oversight of Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) equipment to support safe, efficient, and successful project execution.
You will coordinate with vendors, project teams, design partners, and internal stakeholders to drive sourcing strategy, procurement execution, quality assurance, delivery tracking, and cost visibility. You will also support enterprise procurement initiatives by maintaining accurate sourcing data, developing acquisition approaches, analyzing risk, and providing leadership on large or complex assignments.
As a director-level leader, you may guide project-specific procurement teams, supervise assigned staff, and provide coaching, performance feedback, and discipline as needed. You will bring strong technical procurement knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to build effective relationships with owners, vendors, subcontractors, and project teams.

Responsibilities
Your Key Responsibilities
You will promote PPMOF across the enterprise by identifying opportunities to expand adoption, supporting corporate PPMOF initiatives, and partnering with project and leadership teams to advance offsite fabrication strategies.
Sourcing and Vendor Management
  • Identify, evaluate, and prequalify vendors for PPMOF components, modular integrators, MEP equipment, and project-specific procurement needs.
  • Maintain a current vendor library that includes OEM vendors, lead times, production capacity, and available production slots for major mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Negotiate and establish master service agreements with selected vendors.
  • Release, manage, review, and recommend vendors for specific projects based on scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
  • Define scopes of work, manage key date drivers, and support project teams with vendor selection and procurement strategy.
Procurement Coordination
  • Lead procurement efforts on assigned projects.
  • Notify owner teams of delivery requirements, required-on-job dates, and procurement needs.
  • Manage the negotiate purchase orders, support subcontract awards, and coordinate procurement documents.
  • Coordinate OFCI deliveries, vendor shop drawings, and delivery requirements with vendors and site teams.
  • Verify OFCI deliveries, track outstanding items, and develop corrective action plans when required.
Approval and Documentation - Manage Team that does the following:
  • Coordinate OFCI shop drawing submittals and monitor approval progress.
  • Coordinate PPMOF LOD 350 submittals and gain required approval of skid designs from AWS or other applicable stakeholders.
  • Ensure vendors and fabrication partners have the required materials, equipment, documentation, and approvals to proceed.
  • Prepare acquisition plans and supporting documentation that evaluate options, strategies, risks, contracting methods, competition, sources, cost, and milestone schedules.
Fabrication, Quality Assurance, and Logistics - Manage Team that does the following:
  • Verify that shop fabrication is progressing on schedule and meeting quality expectations.
  • Confirm vendors have required materials, equipment, approvals, and production capacity to meet project needs.
  • Coordinate required PPMOF fabrication and delivery sequencing with project teams and vendors.
  • Track PPMOF shipments and communicate arrival timing to appropriate project stakeholders.
  • Verify the condition of PPMOF components upon arrival and ensure acceptance sign-off by the project team.
Customer Engagement and Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with on-site teams, integrators, Walbridge Design Managers, CDG, and external A/E firms to identify PPMOF opportunities and develop modular solutions for projects.
  • Present PPMOF capabilities to customers and internal stakeholders to expand offerings and support project delivery strategies.
  • Research and evaluate new vendors for MEP equipment, modular integration, and PPMOF services.
  • Support vendor payment requests and help ensure invoices are processed accurately and timely.
  • Provide current, accurate cost data and sourcing information to support enterprise procurement decisions.

Qualifications
To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in PPMOF, procurement, estimating, construction field operations, or a related construction environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices, purchasing methods, vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and subcontract or purchase order administration.
  • Understanding of contract law principles, insurance requirements, office policies, and procurement procedures.
  • Knowledge of prefabrication, modular construction processes, PPMOF delivery strategies, and construction logistics.
  • Ability to interpret contractual documents, prepare statistical reports, analyze cost and product data, and develop recommendations based on vendor terms, pricing, production capacity, and historical information.
  • Thorough understanding of transportation, freight, logistics methods, and INCOTERMS.
  • Understanding of estimating and change management fundamentals, techniques, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with owners, internal stakeholders, project teams, suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, and external partners.
  • Ability to supervise, coach, and support the work of others when assigned.
  • Strong communication, organization, prioritization, time management, and technical problem-solving skills.
