JOB STATEMENT:

The Instrumentation & Controls Technician’s (ICT) supports a safe and sound maintenance, engineering and related maintenance program for the Bronco Manufacturing Network, consisting of sites in Ceres, Napa Valley, and Santa Rosa, California. Under minimal supervision, the ICT’s primary responsibility is to troubleshoot, test, monitor, repair and maintain the bottling halls and all related support and facility equipment, keeping production lines and related systems operating safely and efficiently. The ICT is a key member of the maintenance team and participates daily in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities in the network. Additional responsibilities may include general mechanical maintenance, documentation and record keeping, working directly with the cellar, quality, winemaking, safety, and other departments; preventative maintenance program management, technical library management, ordering parts and interfacing with suppliers, and performing other duties as assigned and/or required.

Essential Duties:


  • Primarily responsible for maintaining bottling, processing, and support equipment in various halls and other areas around Bronco facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control loops (0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA), electrical/electronic systems, and process instruments such as load cells, temperature, flow rate, and pressure transmitters and other I/O devices.
  • Be familiar with the use of DVMs, ohm meters, oscilloscopes, current loop analyzers.
  • Interpret and work from P&ID diagrams and electrical blueprints for process equipment.
  • Perform preventive electrical and mechanical maintenance on diverse process equipment.
  • Be proficient using standard hand tools and be familiar with mechanical systems such as belt drives, pulleys, motors, conveyance, etc.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow SOPs/BOMs.
  • Understand and comply with all ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP requirements and processes.
  • Trains and mentors team members hands on, where the work is at in the production spaces.
  • Working knowledge of Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) and safe operation of all site equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of electricity and the safe operation of electrical testing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Works with industry standard PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc) and HMI/SCADA systems (Intouch, WINcc, Inductive Automation, ControlLogix).
  • Works with networked and PC-based logic controls
  • Draft, develop, update and maintain technical documentation, training materials, and troubleshooting guides
  • Interface with the network’s CMMS and dashboard databases
  • Operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment
  • Utilize TCP/IP as a troubleshooting and setup tool
  • Acts as a key participant in CI meetings and activities


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Education/Experience:

  • Two-year associate’s degree or Certificate in an automotive, aviation, marine, electrical or other technical field with a focus on industrial electrical systems and programming.
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience with demonstrated increase in responsibility and scope at a journey or Senior level in a plant manufacturing environment, with preference for high-speed beverage manufacturing of sodas, wine, beer, juice or dairy products with at least 2MM units of production annually.
  • OR
  • At least fourteen (14) years’ experience with demonstrated increase in responsibility and scope at a journey or Senior level in a plant manufacturing environment, with preference for high-speed beverage manufacturing of sodas, wine, beer, juice or dairy. Successful experience working in multiple sites is highly desired with a combined volume of at least 4MM units annually.
  • CPR Certification and first aid mandatory


ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Processing and packaging equipment operation.
  • Instrumentation, control systems, programming and SCADA
  • Preventive maintenance schedules and CMMS.
  • Equipment manuals, specifications, drawings and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) s.
  • Engineering design methods in beverage manufacturing.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) tools, programs, and methods.


ABILITY TO:

  • Travel throughout the Northern California area between Ceres and Santa Rosa.
  • Interact effectively with Bronco Team Members.
  • Work at various heights and awkward positions, as needed.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional stair climb.
  • Frequent walking.
  • Work in awkward positions (kneeling, lying down or squatting).

WORK ENVIROMENT:
  • Moving machinery.
  • Occasionally high noise level.
  • Exposure to solvents/chemicals.
  • Frequently working in outdoor climate.


HOURS AND WORKDAYS

1st Shift 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, weekends and holiday may be mandatory based on business needs.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Side shield safety glasses, safety vest, head/ear protection, and proper footwear when in production facility
