Job Summary
Responsible for the full range of circulation functions using an automated library system, including the supervision of part-time library circulation staff and work-studies, performance of routine public services procedures, and handling of patron complaints. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Essential Functions
Assist Public Service Supervisor with the supervision of the part-time and student workers' staff. Responsible for lending, borrowing, or reserving and resource sharing functions. Provide general library information and assistance services. Handle library user concerns and issues, equipment maintenance and operation, shelving or shelf maintenance, and card issuance. Assist Public Service Supervisor with the coordination of security and maintenance of the library and other tasks as assigned.
Utilize automated library system to perform circulation functions. Examine and process reserves, holds, or transfers, and assist with shelving, retrieving, packaging, and mailing materials. Request materials from other locations, as needed.
Assist Public Service Supervisor with the training and coordination of the work schedules of student workers or part-time staff and work assignments. Provide feedback to supervisor on part-time and student workers job performance. Provide basic guidance or instructions to library users in accessing the internet, online catalog and databases, and other computer functions.
Assist with entering orders, receive, check, document, and distribute library materials. Follow up on subscriptions. Assist Head Librarian with purchase orders, invoices, and inventories.
Assist with library programming. Compile and maintain statistics and prepare and submit reports as requested. Update various library material lists and record data. Prepare correspondence or memos as needed and maintain files.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. Associate's Degree and three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.
2. Effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
3. Effective customer service and public relations skills.
4. Effective analytical, statistical, and report-building skills.
5. Experience working with automated library systems.
6. Must be detail-oriented.
7. Proficient computer skills and ability to operate audio-visual equipment, computers, and various office machines.

Special Conditions:
