Supervisor: Ashley Soberanis& Joshua Rushing

Location: Henderson Campus

Work Hours per week: up to 20.0

Hourly Rate of Pay: $14.00

What our office does:

Our department helps guide students through academic excellence with co-curricular activities and programming. The Federal Work Study Students for the Office of Student Government and Leadership Development will provide the utmost level of customer service for the Student Union main office. We seek students who are engaging, kind, welcoming, and enjoy championing a peaceful, and friendly work environment while serving as student ambassadors for their respective campuses.

Position Summary

This position aids our students and staff by completing the following duties:

  • Checking library materials in and out to library users using automated library information systems

  • Shelving library materials multiple times a day, performing shelf-reading and dusting of assigned sections as scheduled

  • Issuing new and replacement library cards to patrons

  • Answering and transferring calls on multi-line phone

  • Assisting walk-in students in the use of general office equipment, printing and/ or various computer related issues

  • Performing daily cleaning and dusting

  • Additional duties as assigned

Work Experience in our Department supports the following Degree/Certificate Programs:

  • Communication, English, Sociology, and Business Administration

Required Qualifications:

  • Computer experience required.

  • Ability to alphabetize with accuracy and speed

  • Ability to push heavy book carts up to but not to limited to 50 pounds

  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and/or sit for long periods of time required

  • Dependability and punctuality are a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer service skills preferred

  • Ability to interact and communicate well with others in person and over the telephone

  • Ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and courtesy preferred

  • Basic office equipment troubleshooting skills also preferred
