Job description

Since 1963 Liberty Superstores, owned and operated by the Patnoe family, with four generations of car dealers, has been proud to serve the Black Hills of South Dakota and surrounding areas. Liberty Superstores has grown to 10 franchises in 6 locations in Rapid City and Sturgis. We have the best selection of new vehicles from Chrysler, Jeep, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Fiat, Dodge, Ram, and Chevrolet!

Liberty Superstores is looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill our open Auto-Body Estimator position.


Core Responsibilities

  • Damage Assessment: Visually inspect vehicles and use diagnostic tools to identify both visible and hidden structural, mechanical, or cosmetic damage.
  • Estimate Generation: Utilize specialized estimating software to calculate the costs for replacement parts, paint, and labor according to industry and manufacturer standards.
  • Insurance Coordination: Liaise with insurance adjusters to negotiate and finalize claims, ensuring all repair work complies with major insurance program guidelines.
  • Customer Service: Explain repair processes, costs, and timelines to clients, while providing ongoing status updates until the vehicle is delivered.
  • Liaison with Technicians: Collaborate with the auto body repair team to ensure the repair plan is accurate, parts are ordered, and the vehicle is completed on schedule.
  • Finalizing Paperwork: Reconcile final invoices, process supplements for hidden damage, and complete all required administrative and billing tasks.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of automotive mechanics, structural repair techniques, and part pricing.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with computerized estimating systems and digital workflow management tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and negotiation skills to handle disputes over insurance claims and manage customer expectations.
