School Nurse

Qualifications: Licensed Practical Nurse (current Georgia license) Valid adult and child CPR, first aid, and AED cards Three years experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities: Care and treatment of sick or injured children or staff Administration of routine prescribed medication as directed by physician according to school policy Evaluation and screening of students (vision, hearing, dental, scoliosis, etc.) Appropriate storage of all medical equipment, supplies, medications, logs, and medical records These items will be kept in a confidential locked area designated by the school nurse Document on all students who visit the clinic Maintain a daily log of all clinic visits Call parents on all students who visit the clinic Any student who is ill or injured and cannot return to class should be signed out of school per board policy Meet with parents concerning health needs of children
