Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
SCC Inspection Services is seeking a qualified NDT Level II UT Technician to join our team. The NDE Technician will be performing calibrations, testing, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to code requirements and customer needs. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Level II Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the ultrasonic methods, specifically UT-Thickness, and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of assistants and other technicians.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct nondestructive testing (NOT) on materials and components using established methods.
• Perform NOT Tests using various methods including Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT-T), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Dye-Penetrant Testing (PT).
• Document and report test results accurately and in compliance with client requirements.
• Manage and secure all necessary inspection data, information, photos, and other job-specific materials.
• Strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and operational guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet required deadlines.
• Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations .
• Utilize hand tools and equipment effectively during testing processes.
• Document inspection results and other requirements accurately and prepare detailed reports for review.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated and functioning.
REQUIREMENTS
• At least 2 years of experience in the NOT industry.
• At least 1 year of experience or background in the marine service and/or maintenance.
• Experience in UT testing.
• Knowledge of marine vessels and equipment preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
• Proficiency with computers, including email, Microsoft Office, and the ability to adapt to company-specific software.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
