Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVICU RN for a night shift position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital requiring 2+ years of experience and Level II trauma background.

Details
  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Care for complex cardiac and vascular patients including advanced heart failure, cardiac surgery, heart valve replacement (TMVR, TAVR, TTVR), adult congenital heart disease, VAD, and heart transplant populations
  • Also supports vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, ortho, OB-GYN, and urology patients
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
  • Weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital, with no floating to sister hospitals
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact), OR license required to apply
  • Pending license applications accepted if submitted and received by the licensing board
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with 1 year of recent CVICU experience within the last 2 years in a Level II trauma setting preferred
  • Level II Trauma experience required, Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA/Traditional only, RQI not accepted)
  • CCRN and BSN certifications preferred
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and ABG interpretation
  • Preferred skills include chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, procedural sedation monitoring, lumbar drain care, and pre/post cardiac cath care
  • COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
  • References required from two manager or supervisor-level contacts within the last 24 months (charge RN references not accepted)
  • Work history verification covering the last seven years, including city, state, dates of employment, and PTO details required
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive critical care to complex cardiovascular and post-surgical patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
  • Facility is a 549-bed Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Scrubs provided for OR use, no printed scrubs permitted
  • Holiday coverage required for two of the following three holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days approved during the holiday season, with a general RTO restriction of 1 week
  • All time off requests must be submitted upfront and finalized before the assignment begins
  • First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of experience
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
  • Former OHSU employees or previous travelers must have a 6+ month gap before returning, and require a reference from their prior OHSU manager
  • Candidates may be required to float to an affiliate hospital nearby, with contract cancellation as a consequence for refusal to float as requested
  • Relias competency exams require a minimum score of 85% for successful completion
  • Comprehensive lifetime background check required, with no tolerance for background or license issues
  • Minimum 13-week contract length
