Utility Technician Role

About the Role

Under the direction and supervision of the Facility Manager, the Utility Technician will maintain, repair, and install various equipment, hardware, and paved services as directed by the facilities management team. A wide range of building maintenance and specialty technician experience is required. Contributes to many areas of general repair and maintenance and assists other skilled trades in performing preventative maintenance and rehabilitation project.  This is including but not limited to, office receptacles and lighting, HVAC systems and thermostats, Kitchen and Cooking equipment, plumbing and bathroom equipment, and doing preventive maintenance on all facility systems.  All functions and duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures and within the framework and intent of LEGOLAND New York Resort.

In this role, you will:    Keeps safety as #1 priority.    Follows established maintenance program, including any emergency repairs as required to keep down time to an acceptable minimum.    Ensures that all ride equipment and work areas are kept clean, neat, and orderly always.    Ensures compliance with internal maintenance, safety, and security procedures by following established ASTM, NEC, State and local electrical codes and loss prevention guidelines.    Operates simple machine tools, such as drill presses, power saws, grinders, etc.    Recognizes equipment that needs repair, replacing, or adjusting and reports it to supervisor.    Keeps tools, machines, and all other company equipment in clean and proper working order.    Attends department training, supplemental courses, and seminars to stay abreast of updated technical information and products.    Attends weekly staff meetings for purpose of directing, informing, and training.    Is a liaison with fellow maintenance MCs and other departments.    Always follows LEGOLAND New York policies and procedures.    Responds to emergency calls within theme park, for repairs and maintenance as directed by the facilities management team.    Be mutual aid to other departments within technical services to help accomplish all task in a safe and efficient manner.     Respond to any other various duties as directed by your manager. 

About You 

   Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.    Must be at least 18 years old.    Minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance and repair.    Considerable knowledge of the practices, tools, and equipment used to troubleshoot, and repair electromechanical systems, lighting, carpentry, and plumbing is required.       HVAC experience preferred.                                                                                                                               Requires a demonstrated flexibility to handle a wide range of highly complex and challenging duties throughout the theme park, with extreme care, focused attention, and skillful precision.    Must be able to react under pressure or in an emergency in a calm and rational manner.    Requires the ability to use a full range of measuring devices and power tools.    Basic math skills are required.    Ability to read and evaluate reports and correspondence.    Ability to read blueprints and schematics.    A friendly, polite, guest service-oriented demeanor is required.    Demonstrated ability to follow facility management team directions effectively and observe and remember details.Strong verbal and written communication skills.    Have a positive attitude and a love for FUN!
