Job description

Boutique Law Firm located in downtown Washington DC is looking to employ a Legal Secretary with a "whatever it takes" attitude to join our team.  The ideal candidate should be client-satisfaction oriented as well as a highly skilled proofreader/document editor.  You should exhibit high standards in your work product and strive towards excellence.  Experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word) is essential in this role.  You should be polished and professional in appearance and demeanor.

We are a small but prominent law firm with offices in DC and Florida.  Our team is a dynamic and diverse group of self-starters and goal achievers.  We believe in office synergy.  This is a team environment.  We work hard and you must be willing to do the same with a "can do" attitude.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the office calendar and attorney appointments;
  • Schedule and confirm meetings, prepare files for partners/paralegals prior to meetings;
  • Answer the phone, greet clients, get to know clients;
  • Open and distribute mail, accept, and sign for packages;
  • Ensure file organization (both paper and paperless);
  • Edit/proofread for attorneys;
  • Expert-level document production;
  • Assist attorneys, paralegals and Firm Administrator with administrative tasks as needed; and
  • Work hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm (100% in office ~~ not a remote nor hybrid position ) with an hour for lunch, overtime is rare.  You must be punctual and reliable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Secretary or Administrative Assistant, preferably in a law firm or other professional services setting;
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with excellent editing/proofreading skills; and
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary $60K-$70K, commensurate with experience; and
