Legal Assistant

Boutique Law Firm | Hackensack, NJ | In Office

About the Role

A well established boutique law firm in Hackensack is looking for a Legal Assistant to support a small, busy team of attorneys. This is an in office position for someone who thrives in a fast paced legal environment and wants real exposure to case work rather than just administrative tasks.

What You'll Do

The Legal Assistant will manage attorney calendars and court deadlines, prepare and format legal documents including pleadings, motions, and correspondence, and handle client intake and communication with professionalism and discretion. You'll organize and maintain case files, both physical and electronic, coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, and outside vendors, and assist with e filing across state and federal systems. Billing support, including time entry review and invoice preparation, will also fall under this role.

What We're Looking For

  • Candidates should have at least two years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, ideally within a small firm setting where wearing multiple hats is the norm. Strong writing and proofreading skills matter here, along with comfort using case management software and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with New Jersey court procedures and e filing systems (eCourts) is a plus. The right person is organized, discreet with sensitive information, and able to manage competing deadlines without dropping the ball.
