Job description

Semmes, Bowen & Semmes has an immediate opening for a Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant/Paralegal with experience in civil litigation including concentrations in products liability, construction litigation, toxic torts defense, premises liability, transportation law, insurance coverage and insurance defense.

We offer the opportunity for hybrid/remote work; however, this candidate will need to be available in the office most days of the week Monday through Friday.
Compensation: $50,000 to $80,000 annually including bonus

Semmes is a paperless office environment.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Requirements include at least 2 years of solid defense litigation experience.
  • Excellent communication and software skills (i.e., Word, Outlook, e-filing, etc.)
  • Must possess excellent critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Typing (at least 60-70 WPM)
  • Track billable time on a daily basis.
  • Subpoena records, review and summarize documents, and conduct internet-based investigations.
  • Interview witnesses and coordinate with expert witnesses.
  • Prepare legal documents and general correspondence from dictation or written format in an accurate and timely manner; draft standard correspondence; proofread, edit, and format documents.
  • Prepare paper court filings and electronic filings.
  • Organize, file, and manage electronic and paper documents, exhibits, pleading bibles, trial binders and closing bibles.
  • Organize and submit documents for timely entry into the firm’s docket system.
  • Manage and coordinate attorney calendars, scheduling and travel plans.
