Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary to support attorneys within its Insurance Defense and Medical Malpractice practice. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity for a highly organized legal detail oriented applicant who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and is looking for long-term career growth.

Responsibilities include greeting clients and visitors, answering and routing phone calls, coordinating depositions, hearings, meetings, and travel arrangements, preparing legal documents and correspondence, conducting legal research, organizing and maintaining electronic case files in iManage, opening new client matters, performing conflict checks, updating docket sheets and case information, maintaining attorney calendars and litigation deadlines, performing state and federal e-filing, communicating professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and internal departments, and providing general administrative support including filing, scanning, and data entry.

experience in candidates should have previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary, preferably within a litigation practice. Experience in Insurance Defense is highly preferred. Candidates should possess knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures, e-filing experience, excellent organizational and time management skills, strong written and verbal communication abilities, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working independently and collaboratively. Experience with iManage or similar document management software is a plus, although training will be provided on firm-specific systems.

This position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Employees are eligible for a hybrid schedule after onboarding, working three days in the office and two days remotely. Upon potential permanent permanent, the firm offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid holidays, PTO, discretionary year-end bonus, and employee referral bonuses.

• Proven reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in both office and hybrid environments.
