Defense Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant

Atlanta, Georgia | Civil Litigation

An established Atlanta law firm is looking for a seasoned litigation support professional to join its civil defense practice. The position may be structured for either an experienced paralegal or legal assistant, depending on the candidate’s background.


The firm handles a diverse caseload that includes commercial conflicts, real estate disputes, and other civil defense matters. This position offers hands-on involvement throughout the litigation process and is best suited for someone who can independently manage details, deadlines, and competing priorities.


The Role

  • Prepare, edit, and format pleadings, discovery, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Manage court filings through Georgia Odyssey and PACER.
  • Monitor case deadlines and maintain accurate litigation calendars.
  • Coordinate depositions, hearings, meetings, and other case-related events.
  • Organize exhibits, case materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist attorneys with hearing, deposition, and trial preparation.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of litigation experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.
  • Prior civil litigation experience; a defense background is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Georgia state and federal court practices.
  • Strong organizational, proofreading, and document-production skills.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and keep multiple active matters on track.
