Legacy Vision information
What is a Legacy Vision?
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Legacy Vision professional, and why are they important?
How does a Legacy Vision specialist typically collaborate with other departments to ensure successful long-term organizational planning?
What is the difference between Legacy Vision vs Optometrist?
| Aspect | Legacy Vision | Optometrist |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Licensed optical professionals, often with specialized training in vision correction and eyewear | Doctor of Optometry (OD) license, required to diagnose and treat eye conditions |
| Work Environment | Optical retail stores, vision centers, and eyewear clinics | Private practices, clinics, hospitals, and vision centers |
| Industry Usage | Primarily in retail and optical service settings | Healthcare and medical settings |
Legacy Vision typically refers to optical retail or eyewear service providers, focusing on vision correction and eyewear sales. Optometrists are licensed healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat eye conditions. While both roles involve eye care, optometrists have a medical qualification and broader scope of practice compared to Legacy Vision providers, who mainly focus on eyewear and vision correction services.

About Oregon Humane
Founded in 1868, Oregon Humane is the Northwest's oldest and largest animal welfare organization with one of the highest adoption rates in the nation. We are working toward our vision of a world where all animals are treated with compassion, kindness and respect. With campuses in Portland and Salem, Oregon Humane is an Oregon-based nonprofit that relies on donor support for its adoption, education, medical and humane law enforcement programs. Visit oregonhumane.org to learn more about how we’re creating an ecosystem where all of us – animals and humans – feel safe, valued and part of something bigger.
The Team
The Senior Director of Impact & Legacy Giving is a key leader on the Advancement Team, which includes all of Oregon Humane’s fundraising, communication and marketing efforts. The team is made up of a group of passionate individuals who work every day to help raise funds, build awareness, steward current and cultivate new donors, and help Oregon Humane protect and care for as many animals and their people as possible. All Oregon Humane staff members contribute to the stewardship of the organization’s mission and are expected to stay current on and understand issues related to animal welfare and Oregon Humane’s programs.
The Position
As one of the most respected and innovative animal welfare organizations in the country, Oregon Humane is entering a new chapter of growth and transformation. We are uniting our philanthropy and planned giving teams into one powerful force: Impact & Legacy Giving, reflecting our belief that donors want to see the difference they make today and know their legacy will live on tomorrow.
The Senior Director of Impact & Legacy Giving will be at the heart of this vision. This is a rare opportunity to shape a newly integrated approach, lead a talented team of fundraisers, and inspire transformational giving that sustains Oregon Humane’s mission for generations. If you are a strategic leader, a relationship builder, and a champion for both people and animals, this is your moment to leave your mark.
Eligible Benefits
