Transmission Project Manager
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Transmission Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of electric transmission line and substation capital projects. This role is responsible for managing projects throughout the full lifecycle, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
The ideal candidate will have strong project leadership experience, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proven ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead transmission line and substation capital projects from initiation through completion.
  • Manage all phases of project execution, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive project performance related to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Schedule & Financial Management
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and delivery plans.
  • Monitor progress and proactively address schedule impacts and project risks.
  • Support project forecasting, budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting activities.
  • Identify and manage variances while implementing corrective actions as needed.
Risk & Change Management
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Lead issue resolution efforts and escalate critical concerns when appropriate.
  • Manage project changes and ensure impacts to cost, schedule, and scope are documented and communicated.
  • Conduct lessons-learned reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Provide regular project updates to leadership, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Build strong relationships across engineering, construction, operations, environmental, regulatory, and external partner organizations.
  • Facilitate communication, collaboration, and resolution of competing priorities.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure, utility, construction, engineering, or capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and project lifecycle execution.
  • Knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience supporting transmission line, substation, utility, energy, or industrial capital projects.
  • Understanding of utility operations, transmission systems, permitting, land acquisition, and regulatory processes.
  • Experience with project governance frameworks and stage-gate delivery processes.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Oracle financial systems, or similar project management and financial tools.
