Position Overview

The Learning Consultant (LC) works with clients to execute on large/complex customer facing projects that support critical business process, application deployments, and other larger multifaceted initiatives which contribute to the overall strategic direction of an organization. The Learning Consultant is an expert in instructional design, adult learning theories, and emerging training technologies. This collaborative role provides programmatic direction and oversight to an internal team of instructional designers and other internal roles as well as the client project team to design, deliver, and evaluate large-scale training and OCM programs for variety of situations, including new hire onboarding, re-skilling, technology integration, and product launches. This role is highly visible, collaborative, and uniquely positioned to convey the mission, vision, and values of TEKsystems to our clients.

This is a fully remote, 14-week contract assignment.

Responsibilities

โ€ข Needs Assessment:

o Lead the efforts to analyze and confirm the performance problem.

o Lead efforts to collect data needed for learning and performance solutions and to inform change strategies.

o Conduct audience analysis of learners and stakeholders to document audience preferences and characteristics through interviews, surveys, and focus groups.

o Lead the job-task analysis for impacted roles to identify critical competencies, performance support needs, and learning objectives.

o Analyze client source content, target audience demographics, job tasks, and learner environment to identify learning objectives and appropriate instructional strategies.

o Recommend learning and measurement strategies.

o Catalog Subject-Matter-Experts and engage during analysis.

o Coordinate the identification of subject-matter-experts or performance exemplars with the client.

โ€ข Curriculum Design:

o Create detailed curriculum maps that reflect the analysis and demonstrate the closure of knowledge or skill gaps.

o Develop learning objectives that are aligned with organizational goals.

o Consult with stakeholders to shape and confirm the learning strategy.

o Apply the appropriate instructional design methods (e.g., ADDIE, Agile).

o Create options for delivering engaging training or performance support (e.g., simulations, job-aids, games, hands-on activities, interactive case studies, role-plays, and assessments).

o Develop final report of recommendations that meet the clientโ€™s expectations and budget.

o Provide thought-leadership on adult learning theory and principles, adoption accelerators, and delivery options.

o Create and manage epics and stories for agile projects.

o Communicate progress and outcomes of learning programs to key stakeholders.

โ€ข Coordinate Training Delivery Logistics:

o Assist customers with Learning Management System (LMS) selection and implementation recommendations.

o Assist with recommendations for course registration and prework.

o Coordinate instructor assignments.

o Track instructor deliveries.

โ€ข Creation of Evaluation, Communication, and Maintenance Plans:

o Develop an evaluation plan that can be used to gauge the impact of training interventions on performance and organizational goals.

o Develop a maintenance and operation plan outlining solution delivery (i.e., training or performance support) and maintenance needs.

o Develop and implement communication plans to promote learning initiatives

o Develop playbooks to support rollout of training programs โ€“ Train-the-Trainer, etc.

โ€ข Industry Leadership:

o Actively research and mentor team on emerging learning technologies, methodologies, and support systems resulting in the most effective and efficient solutions.

o Identify new potential internal and external relations for tool, technology, and capability advancement.

o Raise the bar on existing learning solution development process, techniques, and solution types appropriate to improve instructional design and development skills.

โ€ข Coaching and Mentorship:

o Mentor and coach Instructional Designers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality solutions.

o Lead development of learning standards for organization.

o Monitor and review instructional design deliverables.

Required Skill Set

โ€ข Technical Skills:

o Comprehensive knowledge of e-learning and industry standards (such as SCORM and AICC) that govern how digital learning content interacts with Learning Management Systems

o Comprehensive knowledge of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, human behavior and performance, methods for curriculum and training design, and the measurement of training effectiveness

o Proficient in leveraging human performance improvement methodologies to identify performance gaps, develop targeted solutions, and evaluate effectiveness

o Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

o Comprehensive knowledge of common of current learning development software

o Ability to analyze source content and extract relevant information for instructional purposes

o Working knowledge of main TGS business areas, including AI, application modernization, data modernization, and ITSM

o Ability to use visualization and diagramming tools (e.g., Mirro, Visio) to design and communicate instructional design concepts, curriculum structures, and learning workflows

o Proficiency with online communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint) and etiquette for engaging in asynchronous communications

o Demonstrated ability to apply a consultative approach, including active listening, problem analysis, and solution-oriented communication to address client need

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a thorough knowledge of English grammar, composition, and conventions for different contexts (formal and informal)

Required Qualifications, Education and Experience

โ€ข MA preferred or a BS or BA degree from an accredited university, ideally in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Human Performance Improvement/Technology

โ€ข 7 or more years of experience in Learning Strategy or another related field

โ€ข 3 or more years of experience providing Learning Consulting in a corporate environment

โ€ข Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment at a high level of competence

โ€ข Effective collaboration skills with vendors, internal customers, and clients

โ€ข Ability to build and maintain credibility with internal and external contacts

โ€ข Exceptional oral and written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills to deal with internal and external contacts

Pay and Benefits
