Job description

People Operations Manager
Evapco, Inc., an employee owned company, is currently seeking a People Operations Manager to lead its Human Resources function at our Greenup, IL manufacturing site. Our Greenup, IL site is a multi-shift facility that employs approximately 675 people and is a manufacturer of the highest quality products for the evaporative cooling and industrial refrigeration markets.
Position Summary:
The People Operations Manager serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner with the Leadership Team in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of HR strategies to support business goals while maintaining a strong employee ownership culture. This role will coach and advise all levels of employees, so they are fully capable and accountable to own, improve and accelerate business results and culture.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the establishment and implementation of strategic people programs, particularly in the areas of organizational effectiveness, strength-based leadership development, employee wellness, recruiting, training, succession planning and compensation.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of Corporate People Operations strategies, leads local implementation.
  • Builds upon our culture of ownership by continually educating employees about the Evapco Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and the connection to team and individual performance.
  • Continuously improve recruitment, assessment, selection, development and retention of best talent.
  • Leads two direct reports (People Operations Generalist and Training Supervisor) and supports the People Operations and Training/Document Control teams.
  • Continuously optimize our work environment to ensure a safe, engaged and productive employee base.
  • Lead effective change management practices.
  • Promotes a cooperative and harmonious environment that facilitates positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement. Resolves conflicts and other employee relations issues that are escalated to HR.
  • Ensure compliance and alignment with relevant regulations and requirements pertaining to the management of HR to minimize risk and exposure to the company.
  • Department has responsibility for planning company events.
  • Travels to other Evapco facilities in support of local people needs.

Position Requirements:
  • A proven track record of working as a business partner with manufacturing managers in the design and implementation of value-added human resources programs and services.
  • Must have breadth and depth of experience with emphasis in organizational effectiveness, leadership development, recruitment/selection, compensation, positive employee relations, performance management, and learning/development.
  • Prior experience working in strength-based leadership model preferred.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the financials and metrics of the business.
  • Shows appreciation for, understands and balances the needs of employees with the needs of the business.
  • Must possess the necessary level of knowledge and skills in Employee Relations. Experience at the prevention of litigation by addressing employee disputes, ensuring fairness in the workplace, providing employee assistance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or a related field.
  • 5+ years HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
