Scope of Job
Responsible for providing and coordinating advanced technical instructional support to faculty and students on issues directly related to the institution's learning management system and all related instructional technologies.
Description of Duties
  • Provides advanced technical support to faculty and students for traditional, online and hybrid teaching and learning tools such as the institution's learning management system and related instructional technologies such as web conferencing, course content creation, lecture capture and anti-plagiarism technologies for on-line assessment.
  • Develops and implements procedures, processes, and controls for the provision of end-user support related to instructional technologies.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains instructional software and courseware, as well as troubleshoot problems with computer hardware and peripherals of COLTT instructional technology staff.
  • Documents help desk standards and procedures in accordance with online learning and information resources standards. Ensures that all digital content provided meets accessibility standards.
  • Develops and provides trainings, consultation, and support for learning instructional technology tools for program needs.
  • Contributes to researching, designing, and/or acquiring learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning.
  • Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies.
  • Interfaces with outside vendors and agencies as they relate to the responsibilities and user support associated with this position.
  • Collaborates with the learning management system development staff, designer/developers in the setup, integration and performance monitoring of the university's learning management system and related instructional technologies.
  • Facilitates information sessions and presentations such as in student orientations to publicize and educate students about instructional support services provided by the department.
  • Develops and presents E-Learning strategies utilized by UTRGV at conferences to various audiences.
  • May generate reports as needed for upper management.
  • Keeps abreast with instructional technology development trends, federal accessibility standards, and innovative technology applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field from an accredited university.

Two (2) years of experience in information technology and or computer end-user support.
Preferred Experience
Familiar with database administration. Knowledge of Banner Student Information System. Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems administration and integration. Experience obtained in a higher-education setting.
Equipment
Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Windows and Office utilization and troubleshooting, and skilled in the transfer, editing, converting, storing, and streaming of digital video and audio. Standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment.

May be required to work night and/ or weekends. Some travel might be required. Must be able to work independently, as part of a team or as a leader of a group. Display exceptional troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills with high level of attention to detail.
