Job description

Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC (PPMW) was founded on the visionary idea that access to sexual and reproductive health care could transform people’s lives. For over 80 years, PPMW has provided high quality, supportive reproductive medical care for families in the DC metro area. 


About the role

Under the supervision and direction of the, Assistant VP of Business Operations, the Training Coordinator will provide clinical training, observation, and evaluation of HCA staff members.


The Training Coordinator works in collaboration with the Medical Management Team to assure that clinical processes are uniform throughout the organization. They will integrate the teaching of EHR technology and clinic practices to support optimal patient care, customer service, and flow. They will serve as an onsite trainer for clinic staff functioning in front- and back-office roles to maintain optimal patient care and health center productivity.

What you'll do

Clinical Care and Training

  • Co-builds the curriculum for training, including learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Produces high quality visual and print materials (such as manuals and teaching aids) that are clear and effective for use in trainings.
  • Assist with the preparation of training materials as needed.
  • Maintains current knowledgebase on changes in clinic protocol; assists with updates to clinic manuals as assigned.
  • Must have expert knowledge of the following: birth control methods, sexually transmitted infections, male and female testing and results, clinic forms, clinic flow and structure, procedure services (Abortion, Essure, Colposcopy, insertion, and removal of long-acting reversible contraceptive methods) PPMW front and back-office procedures and protocols.
  • Evaluates training and development effectiveness by assessing application of learning to job performance, recommendations for ongoing HCA training and development.
  • Works with health center managers and employees to identify learning needs; designing individual training plans or development guides; and coaching to improve performance.
  • Develops objective evaluations of training programs.
  • Travels throughout PPMW sites to deliver training programs, with availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • May fill-in as needed at all PPMW sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • EHR Training and Support.
  • Assist with the preparation of training material.
  • Loads practice management system with test data for training purposes.
  • Delivers classroom and onsite EHR training programs.
  • Participates in EHR workgroups as assigned to ensure effective integration of practice management into training delivery.
  • Utilize, test, and experiments with electronic interfaces/software to appropriately train and educate staff.
  • Beta tests new templates/interfaces; identify possible issues prior to integration into PPMW’s EHR environment.
  • Works with Medical Management Team to assure that EHR training and flow facilitation is incorporated for front and back-office HCA training; reviews and updates existing training plans to incorporate EHR practices.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA, BS, or AA degree in Education, Health Sciences, Nursing or related fields preferred
  • At least 4 years of Planned Parenthood experience that includes abortion services, if preferred education is not met
  • Training experience
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency utilizing electronic patient management system
  • Ultrasounds for gestational dating experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • CPR certified preferred
  • HCA III preferred

The pay range for this role is:
53,000 - 63,000 USD per year(PPMW Administrative Offices)
