About the Team
The IHV Strategy & Insights team is responsible for coordinating innovation opportunities from our partners, providing valuable insights from HP competitors and supporting successful HP launches. Our mission is to influence and simplify the engineering workstreams across teams and stakeholders to drive clarity and alignment for HP Strategy. The Insights Lab functions as the analytical engine of this organization, providing the competitive intelligence, benchmarking data, and technical validation necessary to drive winning customer contracts and provide strategy directions.
The Role
We are seeking a high-performing, experienced, and energetic Manager for the Insights Lab to lead our competitive benchmarking, bid support, and digital transformation initiatives. In this role, you will lead a team of full-time employees and contractors to deliver critical data-driven insights that influence HP's product roadmap, support multi-billion dollar sales efforts, and enable internal stakeholders to access deep technical competitive intelligence.
You will operate at the intersection of hardware architecture, market intelligence, and digital strategy, navigating complex cross-functional landscapes to ensure our teams have the data they need to compete and win. This is a high-visibility role requiring frequent interaction with Engineering, Marketing, and Sales leadership across Pan-HP business units.
Responsibilities
  • Lead Lab Operations: Manage and lead a team in executing competitive benchmark testing work and product teardowns (>60 units per year).
  • Strategic Bid Support: Oversee the provision of competitive benchmarking support for global sales teams.
  • Drive Digital Transformation: Architect and manage the evolution of our data platforms, utilizing advanced tools such as PowerBI, Smart Sheets and natural language AI chatbots utilizing historical benchmark/teardown data for stakeholders in Marketing, Engineering, and Sales.
  • Stakeholder Enablement: Act as the primary point of contact for Sales and Marketing teams, providing detailed benchmark comparisons for the Commercial Notebook/Desktop portfolio to support marketing and global sales enablement initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Collaborate with Hardware Architecture, Firmware, and Marketing teams to turn lab findings into actionable product improvements and competitive positioning strategies.
  • Program Excellence: Synthesize complex technical and market data into clear reports, ROI analyses, and executive-level summaries.
  • Operational Optimization: Review and evaluate lab processes and testing methodologies, providing tangible feedback to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of data delivery.

Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Typically has 7-10 years of job-related experience or preferably in engineering design and solutions, implementation across hardware development lifecycle, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of management experience, demonstrating on how to manage teams, including full-time employees and contractors.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Technical Benchmarking Expertise: Deep understanding of system-level performance testing and competitive teardown methodologies for hardware products.
  • Global Collaboration: Ability to lead and influence diverse, geographically dispersed teams across cultural and time zone boundaries.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated success in supporting large-scale sales tenders and understanding the relationship between technical specifications and market value.
  • Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between highly technical lab engineering teams and non-technical business/executive leadership.
  • Process Improvement: Proven history of developing new business, technical, or engineering processes to improve organizational output.

The pay range for this role is $130,700 to $205,200 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
