Job Duties
The Disability Resource Center department is seeking qualified part-time Learning Disabilities Specialists to provide diagnostic procedures to verify eligibility for services provided to those with learning disabilities under the California Community Colleges guidelines, verifying eligibility using testing and documentation available from sources outside the California College system, and provide appropriate educational accommodations, recommendations and referrals. In addition, the position may teach instructional support and disability management courses for students with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed under 1) or 2):
  1. A Master's degree in learning disabilities, special education, education, psychology, speech language pathology, communication disorders, educational or school psychology, counseling, or rehabilitation counseling AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of learning disabilities, to include, adult cognitive and achievement assessment.
  2. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in 1) above. You must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form (www.palomar.edu/hr/equivalency-app/), if you do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above, which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application.

Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service.
