Job description

Get to Know Us:

It's fun to work in a company where people truly believe in what they're doing!

At BlackLine, we're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business of enterprise applications.

Since being founded in 2001, BlackLine has become a leading provider of cloud software that automates and controls the entire financial close process. Our vision is to modernize the finance and accounting function to enable greater operational effectiveness and agility, and we are committed to delivering innovative solutions and services to empower accounting and finance leaders around the world to achieve Modern Finance.

Being a best-in-class SaaS Company, we understand that bringing in new ideas and innovative technology is mission critical. At BlackLine we are always working with new, cutting edge technology that encourages our teams to learn something new and expand their creativity and technical skillset that will accelerate their careers.

Work, Play and Grow at BlackLine!

Make Your Mark:

We are seeking an experienced and execution-focused learning leader to join our team as Director, Learning & Leadership Development. This role will be the delivery engine behind BlackLine's learning programs — designing, building, and delivering the full learning portfolio across a global workforce of approximately 1,900 employees. Reporting to the Senior Director, Talent Development & Engagement, the ideal candidate pairs modern, AI-enabled learning design with the operational discipline to run programs at scale and the leadership presence to develop a high-performing delivery team.

You'll Get To:
  • Build & Deliver the Full Learning Portfolio: Design, build, and deliver BlackLine's full learning program portfolio — onboarding, professional development, management and leadership development, and capability-building — executing the strategy set with the Senior Director, TD&E.
  • Design and Facilitate Leadership & Manager Development Programs: Design, build, and facilitate leadership and management development programs across all levels: emerging leaders, first-time people managers, senior leaders, and high-potential talent.
  • Drive Manager Effectiveness at Scale: Build and deliver manager effectiveness programming grounded in connector-manager behaviors — regular feedback, coaching, recognition, and accountability — scaled across BlackLine's global people-manager population.
  • Run High-Potential & Emerging Leader Programs: Deliver the high-potential and emerging-leader development programs, coordinating assessments, 360-degree feedback, and executive coaching logistics in partnership with the Sr. Director.
  • Architect Modern Learning Experiences: Design and build learning experiences that prioritize relevance, speed, application, and measurable impact — favoring embedded microlearning, manager reinforcement tools, cohort-based learning, and performance support over episodic, classroom-style training.
  • Design & Run Structured Onboarding: Build and run structured onboarding and ramp experiences across the organization, including role-specific 30-60-90-day pathways, buddy program coordination, and time-to-productivity tracking.
  • Operate the Learning Technology Ecosystem: Operate BlackLine's learning technology stack day-to-day — LMS/LXP platforms, AI-enabled authoring tools, content libraries, and learning operations workflow — ensuring a high-quality and scalable learner experience.
  • Produce Learning Analytics & Program Reporting: Generate and deliver the learning and program analytics — manager effectiveness scores, time-to-productivity, learner adoption, and behavior change indicators — that inform the Sr. Director's executive dashboard and CPO-level reporting.
  • Manage Vendors, Budget & Partnerships: Own learning vendor relationships, content partnerships, and program budgets end-to-end, delivering quality outcomes on time and on budget across a global, distributed workforce.
  • Support the leadership of the L&LD Delivery Team: Partner with the Sr. Director of Talent Development and Engagement to drive clear standards for learning quality, program governance, measurement rigor, and on-time delivery, while fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, Leadership Development, or Talent Development, with a demonstrated track record of building and delivering high-impact programs.
  • 5+ years leading learning or talent development teams, including experience in matrixed, globally distributed, or hybrid work environments.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and facilitating leadership and manager development programs at enterprise scale.
  • Hands-on experience operating learning technologies including LMS/LXP platforms and AI-enabled learning authoring and delivery tools.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to translate strategy into well-executed, measurable programs for audiences of varying seniority.
  • Experience delivering programs across a global, distributed workforce, with an understanding of regional localization needs.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using learning and people data to measure program impact, identify improvements, and build business cases.
  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or high-growth technology organizations preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled work models and experience building or delivering digital-capability or AI-fluency learning programs preferred.
  • Experience with learning-in-the-flow-of-work methodologies and modern instructional design approaches preferred.
  • Certifications in facilitation, instructional design (ATD), coaching (ICF), or leadership assessment (DISC, EQ-i) preferred.
  • Collaborative, low-ego operator who builds trust across cross-functional teams and thrives as an execution leader within a broader strategic agenda.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally to support global programs, leadership events, and team delivery.

Thrive at BlackLine Because You Are Joining:
  • A technology-based company with a sense of adventure and a vision for the future. Every door at BlackLine is open. Just bring your brains, your problem-solving skills, and be part of a winning team at the world's most trusted name in Finance Automation!
